How to Find where your Outlook Data files are located.

All your Microsoft Outlook Items are stored in one single file called Personal Folder Files (.PST) this is the data file you needed if you're going to backup or to transfer your outlook messages, calendar, and task to another computer.

Depending on your OS outlook set its default location to C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook, App data folder is mostly hidden, so you need to unhide that folder to see your outlook data file.

Outlook data file can also be set to any location you like. For me, I always set my PST file in my documents folder. And in case I need to transfer my files to another computer I can easily transfer my pst file together with my other documents.

To find Outlook Personal Folders file.

1. Open your outlook
2. Go to Tools > Account Settings
3. Click on Data file Tab, below you can see the location of your PST file. Expand to see the full path.

How to Start outlook in safe mode on Windows 10

Starting outlook in safe-mode is very useful when you're having trouble in outlook. Safe mode in outlook is used to fix trouble especially if your outlook is hanging up when you open it in normal mode.

If you open your outlook in normal mode it will automatically perform send/received, and so if your

How to configure Column default value in SQL Server in design View.

Recently I migrated my MS ACCESS database to SQL Database. The migration is a success until a user tried to print a report from her MS Access frontend. All the computation in a report is blank. It confusing because the code for the computation is correct and the field to calculate has a value and it returns no error only its show blank.

When I compare the field from my old previous MS Access database to new SQL database I now see what causes of that blank computation results. It seems that in my old database, any field with numeric data types has a default value of zero if the field hasn't specify any value, but in my new database it will be null. And so I need to change it to zero if value is not specify. In my old database the datatypes is numeric but when I converted it to SQL it become FLOAT data types.

 What I did to fix this is to enter a default value in all of the fields that have a FLOAT data types. I enter the value zero(0) in all float data types if the field does not contain any number, so in case the field has no value it should have zero in that field instead of null. When I do that MS access can now compute and all the computation in reports or form are fix.

This is how to add a default value in a column in SQL Server using design View.
So every time a new record is inserted it automatically add the default to the field you specify.

1. Login to your SQL Server using SQL Management Studio.
2. In your Object Explorer expand to your database and to your desired table.
3. right click on your table then select Design
4. click on choose the column you want to add default value
5. then on column properties, navigate to default Value or Binding then enter the value you want.

How to connect to SQL Server from another computer without joining a domain.

We have a small database in our office using SQL Database as backend and Microsoft Access as front-end. For the past years, we are using Windows server 2000 where the SQL Data is stored. All of the front-end workstations are connected to Windows server via a domain active directory.

If I we established a new database workstation we need to connect to a domain for our MS access Database to able connect to SQL Database via ODBC Connection.

But how to access SQL Server Database from a remote computer without joining a domain?

The simple answer is to create an SQL login and use SQL authentication to connect to SQL Server.

Use that SQL Login in your connection string, and if you're using ODBC connection just like our database use SQL Authentication instead of Windows Authentication.

To create SQL Server Login for SQL Server Authentication.

1. In SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Open Object Explorer and expand the folder of the server instance (in my case its SQLEXPRESS) in which to create the new login.
2. right-click the Security folder, point to New and then click Login
3. On the General page, enter a username for the new login in the Login name box.
4. Select SQL Server Authentication.
5. Enter a password for that username.
6. Choose the password policy options that should be applied to the new login. It's recommended to use enforcing password policy.
7. click OK.

In my first time connecting via SQL Server Authentication, I encountered a firewall problem. So make sure the port 1433 and 1434 are open in your firewall. This two port are the ports uses by SQL Server to communicate to another computer.

To open a port in your Windows firewall.

1. Navigate to Control Panel, System, and Security and Windows Firewall.
2. Select Advanced settings and highlight Inbound Rules in the left pane.
3. Right-click Inbound Rules and select New Rule.
4. Add the port you need to open and click Next.
5. Add the protocol (TCP or UDP) and the port number into the next window and click Next.
1. TCP Port 1433 - sqlserver
2. UDP Port 1434 - sqlbrowser
6. Select Allow the connection in the next window and hit Next.
7. Select the network type as you see fit and click Next.
8. Name the rule something meaningful and click Finish.

the same network.

• The same network means the same gateway and subnet address for IP communications.

•  For 1:1 connections, use a crossover cable that allows communications without network equipment.
• Features such as the Web, widgets, and RSS are not available in closed networks without an external connection to the Internet.

Easy way to delete outbox messages in outlook.

I have a lot of unsent messages in my outbox folder in outlook. It failed to send because of too large attachment or my email server is down when doing so. I want to clean the messages in my outbox that is not needed so I really want to delete it.

When I click the delete button, it does not work the messages is still there. Sometimes outlook gives back this message "outlook has begun transmitting this message" so you are unable to delete it. Sometimes no response, just you can't delete.

To easily delete outbox message

1. Open your outlook and set it to work offline. (To stop outlook from trying to send all email messages)
• In Outlook 2010, 2013 and 2016, go to the Send/Receive ribbon tab > Preferences group and click "Work Offline".
• In Outlook 2007, 2003 and lower, click File select Work Offline
2. Close your outlook then open it again.
3. Go to your outbox then you can now delete your stuck messages. Or move your outbox messages to your draft folder if you need to reuse the message.
4. Then reset your outlook to work online by following the step number 1, just unselect the work offline button to get back to online mode.

If your outlook is already transmitting the messages. Just cancel the send/receive then follow the Step 1 to 4. If still can delete it start your outlook in safe mode then try to delete again.

How to fix Cannot Send This Item in outlook

I'm having an issue with my outlook when I was about to send an email to a client. After I click SEND, it shows an error "cannot send this item". I was upset because the error says cannot send the item, But not showing what cause the error or hints on how to solve it.

As I search the net I found out two common reasons for this error.

Reason 1 - Maybe you use HTML in your email message - Change your email message from HTML to rich text or just a plain text. Sometimes copying your message and compose a new message in paste it there solves the problem.

Reason 2 - Oversized logo/image signature - If you have a logo signature in your message then it is possible the reason. Maybe your image is too large for a signature. Resize it to a smaller one or just use a text signature.

In my case it is the reason number 1, I just clear the formatting to remove HTML and use plain text only. Then I can send my email without getting the "cannot send this item error."

In default the following setting are activated to protected view

1. files originating from internet.
2. files located in potentially unsafe location.
3. from outlook attachment.

To Disable Protected View for you to Edit documents.

1. Open Microsoft Excel
2. Go to File > Options
3. Then click Trust Center
4. Click Trust Center Settings
5. Select the protected view
6. then uncheck box you want to disable protected view.

Presently on the left segment click Protected View and uncheck any records you might want to disable the protected view. And now when you open the files it will permit you for editing the documents.

This procedure also applies to All Microsoft Office 2016 documents ie. ms word, powerpoint.
